New kickoff video and a big deadline!

Hi friends & neighbors,

We have a new video with great footage from the kickoff, and it was wonderful that so many of you were there. Before I share it, I need you to know that our first major fundraising deadline is this weekend. Will you chip in $50 to help us reach our goal? 

Until I became a candidate, I got urgent fundraising deadline emails all the time, and sometimes I thought: I already gave what I planned to give, so why give more now?

Well, now that I’m a candidate, I understand that there are major fundraising deadlines each quarter when the money you have raised so far becomes public, and this deadline is arguably the most important.

Donors, endorsers, and other candidates all have their eyes on us to see how much we have been able to raise. Making a donation today will have a huge impact, because it will show the community that our grassroots campaign for a sustainable and inclusive Culver City is viable and competitive. 

Early donations often make or break a campaign. Without supporters like you, we won't have the momentum we need to win. 

Because our campaign doesn’t take money from law enforcement, tobacco, fossil fuel, or real estate development companies or organizations, your donation is critical.

Culver City doesn't have public campaign financing like in many other cities–  campaigns are on their own to raise 100% of their funds. Getting access to the voter data we need for canvassing costs over $2,000. Candidate filing fees are steep. Every 1,000 pieces of union-printed literature we purchase to hand out to neighbors while knocking doors costs nearly $500. 

When we kicked off our campaign two months ago, I had no idea what to expect. To my amazement, over a hundred neighbors joined us in the park to embark on this journey with us for a sustainable and inclusive Culver City for everyone. Your support has meant so much to me!
